🇬🇧 UK rehearsal data. The FCA publishes its first Aggregate Net Short Position file on 13 July 2026. Until then, UK figures are reconstructed from the FCA's outgoing named register; treat them as illustrative. Australian figures are live ASIC data and unaffected.Details.

About

HowShorted answers one question well: how shorted is any stock? We archive official regulator publications every trading day: the FCA's aggregate net short positions in the UK (from day one of the 2026 regime) and ASIC's daily aggregated short positions in Australia. We turn them into readable league tables, movers lists and a chart per company, and explain honestly what the numbers can and cannot tell you.

We built it because the official data is published as bare spreadsheets, replaced in place each day, with no history, no charts and no explanation, and because the 2026 regime change meant a brand-new dataset whose complete history someone needed to keep from its very first day.

Independence

HowShorted is an independent site. We are not affiliated with the Financial Conduct Authority, the Australian Securities & Investments Commission, or any exchange, issuer or fund. All data comes from official public disclosures; our methodology documents exactly how we handle it. Nothing on this site is investment advice.

Roadmap

The UK and Australia are live. A US section (FINRA short interest, on its slower twice-monthly cadence) is planned for the future.
