What the data showed
The first settlement in this archive for the ticker is 15 Oct 2021, at 3.47% of shares outstanding; the low of 2.54% came on 15 Nov 2021. The line then rose, year after year, to 19.20% on 31 Aug 2026, which is also the most recent point in the window: the highest reading in the company's record is the latest one.
Listing, deliveries and targets
Lucid merged with the special-purpose acquisition company Churchill Capital Corp IV on 23 July 2021 and began trading as LCID on 26 July 2021, with the backing of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, an investor since a 2018 agreement of more than $1 billion and in several rounds since. First customer deliveries of the Lucid Air took place on 30 October 2021. On 1 March 2022 the company cut its 2022 production target from 20,000 vehicles to 12,000 to 14,000, and in August 2022 it cut it again to 6,000 to 7,000. On 5 May 2026 it suspended production guidance while an incoming chief executive reviewed the business.
Reading the line
A short position expressed against shares outstanding moves with the share count as well as with the shorts: a company that raises equity repeatedly, as this one has, changes the base the percentage is measured on. FINRA's days-to-cover figure, which reached 15.67 days on 30 Apr 2024, is the other lens on the same count. Nothing on this page is a view on the company; it records what was published, and when.
