Named register

The EU-style publication model: each individual net short position of 0.5% or more of share capital is published with the position holder's name.

Under the EU Short Selling Regulation, a net short position of 0.5% of a company's issued share capital must be disclosed publicly, with the holder's name, the size and the position date, and every subsequent move of 0.1% up or down must be disclosed too. National regulators (France's AMF, the Netherlands' AFM, Norway's Finanstilsynet, Sweden's Finansinspektionen, Spain's CNMV, among others) publish the resulting registers.

Our league figures for these markets sum the named positions per company. Positions between the 0.1% private notification threshold and 0.5% are known to the regulator but not to the public, so the published sum understates the true short interest.
