Days to cover (short interest ratio)
Short interest divided by average daily trading volume: how many days of typical trading it would take shorts to exit. Shown for US stocks only, as FINRA's own figure.
Also called the short interest ratio. FINRA computes and publishes it alongside each twice-monthly short interest count, so we show it verbatim for US stocks, on a chart of its own on every US company page and ranked on the highest-days-to-cover page. We never ingest prices or volumes ourselves, so no other market has it.
A high figure can come from a large short position, thin trading, or both. It says nothing about why the position exists or where the price will go.
